Reproduction 1940s Cotton Dress - Purple/White Floral
This 1940s reproduction dress was carefully constructed by me using a vintage sewing pattern from my collection and a combination of new and vintage materials. Flower pin for attention, not included.
This cotton dress with light purple stylized flower print, features a bodice in a wrap style and is slightly gathered to where it attaches to the shoulders - this allows for a "roomy" fit in the bust area. Skirt is made from four pieces. Neckline closes with a matching fabric tie. Comes with matching fabric belt. Dress closes with a zipper on the left side.
Dress was machine sewn with hem, neck and sleeve facings finished by hand.
Materials - New 100% cotton fabric. Buckle is vintage shell.
Measurements - This dress was made using the measurements provided by the vintage pattern. I did not make any alterations. Pattern used is a vintage size 18. Bust 36, hips 39.
Actual measurements of the finished dress are as follows.
Under arm to under arm - 19" (I believe this will best fist a 34" to 36" bust)
Waist - 15" across (Will best fist a 27" to 28" waist)
Waist to hem - 28"
Total length - "
Condition - Excellent! Fabric is new, buckle is vintage.
Care instructions - Fabric was pre-washed in warm water and dried. I recommend cold water wash on a gentle cycle, tumble dry low or line dry. Warm iron when needed.
