"A Manual for the 18th Century Shirtmaker"
We have made a few updates to the manual since it's original 2016 printing. The most notable changes are an expanded Table of Contents and an updated list extent shirt and images in museum collections.
This book covers in detail the 18th century man's shirt. Learn how to do the fine stitching, gathering that are the hallmarks of the 18th century shirt and construct a shirt with techniques based on documented 18th century extant examples. Cutting diagrams for soldier's, gentlemen's and officer's shirt from 1750s-1780s are provided along with comprehensive step by step directions. The manual is 70 pages in length with both color and black and white photos included.
We recommend Shirt Buckles and Sleeve Buttons from At the Eastern Door as accessories that complete the presentation of the 18th century shirt. See our selection of shirt kits here.
