Which black is the most common color for 18th century bonnets, other colors do appear in period descriptions and artwork. In the 18th century, "laylock" referred to a fashionable shade of purple or lilac.

Here is our version of a fashionable "laylock" bonnet. It is made of silk taffeta and trimmed in a wide silk satin ribbon of a corresponding color. Bonnet is unlined, has tie in back for adjustment. Made from our standard size Larkin & Smith Bonnet pattern.
