"Pretty Maid" Cap Kit - Linen
Our "Pretty Maid" cap is available as a kit! Everything you need to make your own 18th century cap in a period correct manner. This kit uses a lovely light weight linen with an extra fine linen for the ruffle. Please note, linen for the ruffle will need to be pieced.

- 1 1/8 yards 1 inch wide mint green silk taffeta ribbon
"The Pretty Maid" cap is suitable for the lower and middle sorts for a long portion of the 18th century. This style cap is also seen on 'mature' women in the upper middle classes in the 1770s who prefer an older style of cap. This is a very flattering cap for most women as it frames the face. The lappets may left down or tied with a ribbon under the chin. For an earlier 1740s to 1750s look the lappets can be pinned up on top of the head.
