Mrs Carr Cap Kit - Silk Gauze
Our "Mrs. Carr" cap is once again available as a kit! Everything you need to make your own 18th century cap in a period correct manner. This kit is silk gauze. This wired cap is modeled after a cap worn by Elizabeth Carr in her portrait painted in 1774 by John Durand. The portrait is in the collection of Colonial Williamsburg, Accession Number: 1978-82, A&B. There is also a portrait showing a similar cap worn by Hannah Lathrop, c 1773 in the collection of Historic New England, Accession # 1991.166.2.

Suitable for the fourth quarter of the 18th century, this cap style works well for a number of impressions from lower to upper class depending on materials used, and is seen in numerus 18th century prints and other artwork. This is a very flattering cap for most women.
