18th Century Caps Workshop - June 27, Charlestown, NH
Have you ever wondered how to make an 18th century women's cap? Do you want to learn more about 18th century cap styles and how to choose the best one for your living history impression?
Location & Date: Saturday June 27th, 9:30am to 3:00pm. The Fort at No 4, 267 Springfield Road, Charlestown, NH 03603.
Join us for a one-day sewing workshop, Saturday June 27th, exploring 18th century women’s caps. This workshop will focus on women’s caps and hair styles of the mid 18th century with a special focus on the 1770s. Attendees will have the opportunity to try on ready-made examples of caps and select one of each that best suits their tastes and living history needs.
Information on period stitching techniques and trimming options will be covered. At the end of the workshop participants will have a finished, or nearly finished, cap of their own. Basic hand sewing knowledge is required.
**Each participant will provide their own fabrics and sewing tools (scissors, pins, needles, etc.), a materials list will be sent following registration. The workshop will include a paper pattern and instructions for a cap, cap ties and length of silk ribbon.**
Additional supplies as well as a selection of cap kits will be available to purchase on site. Please email ahead of class if you would like to reserve fabrics or sewing notions.
Pre-registration is required, space is limited. Students should plan to bring a bag lunch. A portion of each workshop fee will benefit the Fort at No 4. Please note! A minimum of 5 people is needed to hold this class. If for some reason that number is not met, those signed up will receive a full refund.
