18th Century Bonnet Workshop - June 28th, Charlestown, NH
Have you ever wondered how to make an 18th century silk bonnet? Do you want to learn more about 18th century bonnet colors and how to choose the best one for your living history impression?
Location & Date: Sunday June 28th, 9:30am to 3:00pm. The Fort at No 4, 267 Springfield Road, Charlestown, NH 03603.
Join us for a one-day sewing workshop, Sunday June 28th, exploring 18th century women’s bonnets. Attendees will have the opportunity to try on ready-made examples of bonnets and select one of each that best suits their tastes and living history needs.
Information on period stitching techniques and trimming options will be covered. At the end of the workshop participants will have a finished, or nearly finished, bonnet of their own. Basic hand sewing knowledge is required.
**Each participant will provide their own fabrics and sewing tools (scissors, pins, needles, etc.), a materials list will be sent following registration. The workshop will include a paper pattern and instructions for a bonnet and a treated ready-to-use pasteboard bonnet brim.**
Additional supplies as well as a selection of bonnet kits will be available to purchase on site. Please email ahead of class if you would like to reserve fabrics or sewing notions.
Pre-registration is required, space is limited. Students should plan to bring a bag lunch. A portion of each workshop fee will benefit the Fort at No 4. Please note! A minimum of 5 people is needed to hold this class. If for some reason that number is not met, those signed up will receive a full refund.
