A 18thc Fashionable Gown Pattern

Suitable for late 1770s-1780s, this gown needs to be made in silk or lightweight cotton fabrics.  Fine pleating of the gown skirts release into poufs tied from the inside in the polonaise style or left free.  The back of the bodice is pleated to fit the body.  Petticoat instructions and a pattern for a bum roll are included.  Complete directions with color photographs will walk you through the process using 18th century construction.   Measure while wearing a pair of stays at the widest point of the bust.  Two sizes are included in each pattern.

Fabric Requirement: Gown- 5 yards of 54"wide fabric, Petticoat-3 yards 54" wide, fabric. Bumroll- 1/2 yard linen fabric.  If you plan on elaborate trimming an additional yard of fabric is recommended.

Included are a dozen pins, 1 & 1/2 " long and a documentation card with the details of the original gown.

Our white linen lining works really well with this pattern.   Don't forget good linen thread and excellent sewing needles make a big difference in any sewing project.

We have created a Pinterest Board for this type of gown for ideas on fabric, accessories and trim.
